The International Esports Federation (IESF) has announced the return of six popular game titles to the 2023 World Esports Championship. The Championships Finals will officially kick off in August. This year, Iași, Romania will host the 15th edition of IESF’s flagship event with a record number of over 120 countries expected to compete.

The 2022 WE Championship in Bali, Indonesia, introduced mobile titles PUBG MOBILE and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and both will return following successful competitions which supported IESF’s efforts to make esports more accessible. CS:GO, Dota 2, Tekken 7, and eFootball™ series were featured in the 2021 and 2022 WE Championship as part of IESF’s rich and consistent history of hosting successful esports competitions.

IESF President Vlad Marinescu said: “After the success of the games last year and positive feedback and experience, we are thrilled to announce that the same six tremendously popular game titles will be featured in the upcoming 2023 World Esports Championship. IESF is extremely grateful for the continued cooperation from these prominent game publishers, and we are looking forward to uniting the World Esports Family once again in Iași!

Tiffany Lim, the Chair of IESF’s Athletes’ Committee said:It is vital for the voices of the esports athletes to be heard and represented, and the IESF Athletes Committee is here to help achieve that and bring about change. We are really excited about the new batch of athletes who’re going to be competing at the 2023 World Esports Championships, and confident that we will once again see fierce competition this year. GLHF all!.

The national qualifiers officially wrapped up last week, and the regional qualifiers are set to begin in May. IESF recently announced they would be extending their partnership with FITGMR to provide the necessary tools and support for the World Esports Family at this year’s WE Championship Finals.

Paris Saint-Germain Esports, the esports arm of French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has partnered with North American esports organization Team New Age (TNA).

Organizations jointly created a new Fortnite team called PSG.TNA. The team will make their debut in the ongoing Fortnite competitive season.

According to the statement, the new team will predominantly compete on the North America East server of the Fortnite Champions Series. The team of six Fortnite esports players from the Americas and Oceania will be based in a private gaming house in Washington.

Fabien Allègre, Brand Director of Paris Saint-Germain, said the following:

“Five years on from its creation, PSG Esports has taken another step forward. This is our first move on American soil and into the world’s most popular game. TNA has already won the Champions Series five times. We’re joining up with a battle-hardened team and our goal is to work together and go even higher.”

PSG Esports competes in a variety of games, including League of Legends, DOTA 2 and Arena of Valor, through strategic partnerships with existing esports teams.

The organization also runs PSG Esports Academy, which promotes ethical gaming and offers training on a variety of topics. Also, in 2021 PSG opened an esports studio dedicated to gaming and digital events in Boulogne-Billancourt in Paris.

Joaquin Delmar, Founder and CFO of Team New Age, said the following:

“This is a historic opportunity for Team New Age. What once started as a project between three lifelong friends has now turned into one of the best teams in North America. Partnering up with one of the biggest global sporting brands in the world elevates our ambitions we have as an esports organisation. PSG TNA is the perfect joining of forces to become the premiere, industry-leading Fortnite team not only in the Americas, but in the world.”

Few football clubs are as committed to esports as Paris Saint-Germain. It seems as the organization continues to expand its esports portfolio across various games, it will also continue to expand partnership model by partnering with other organizations.

Epic Games announced last week that it would donate all profits from Fortnite sales from March 20 to April 3 to help people affected by the war in Ukraine.

During that time, the company has raised over $36 million from sales in the game. Epic made the announcement with a tweet from its official Fortnite account.

In the same tweet, Epic also announced that all amounts raised would be donated to a charity including UNICEF, the World Food Program and the UN Refugee Agency. All these charities and organizations are working on the ground to provide people with food, clean water, shelter, first aid and supplies in war-torn areas of Ukraine.

Alongside Epic, Xbox announced via a tweet that they would be partnering with Fortnite to donate all profits from Fortnite over the next two weeks to Ukrainian charity.

Epic has already said that all real money Fortnite purchases made between March 20 and April 3 will be part of the donation. This includes V-Buck packs, Team Fortnite, skill Battle Passes and cosmetic packs, pretty much everything in the store. Even retail store purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Bucks cards will be included if used in-game during the 2-week fundraiser.

Epic’s $36 million donation is arguably the biggest crowdfunding a gaming company has ever made to the Ukrainian public. Before Epic, itch.io had raised more than $6 million with the sale of its special pack containing 1,000 games.

Fortnite developer and publisher Epic Games announced that players residing in Russia will no longer be able to receive cash prizes in Fortnite Competitive tournaments.

In a statement released on Friday, it was stated that the ban would take effect immediately. Players residing in the Russian Federation will still be able to earn in-game cosmetic rewards in competitions.

“Players residing in Russia must complete the prize verification process for any previous tournaments and claim funds from Epic’s payment provider before March 22, 2022. If cash prizes remain unclaimed after March 22, 2022, they will be frozen until Epic’s payment service provider is able to resume prizing support for players residing in Russia.”

Fortnite Competitive

While Russia is not widely known in the Fortnite esports scene, the announcement will affect various Russian-based esports teams currently competing.

In response to the announcement, Danila ‘Malibuca’ Yakovenko, who finished 15th in the Fortnite Champion Series: Chapter 3 Season 1 – Grand Finals, tweeted his anger at the decision.

These sanctions were followed by other esports organizations such as ESL and BLAST Premier that removed Russia-based teams from their events. In addition, WePlay has cut ties with Russian and Belarusian esports organizations.

Esports tournament organizer BLAST has partnered with Epic Games to produce all Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) events in 2022.

BLAST will be tasked with operating the entire FNCS streaming schedule starting with Season 1 of FNCS Episode 3.

FNCS is the biggest esports event in Fortnite. The event is divided into different sections. The second part of the series ran from 2019 to 2021. Each part is also divided into seasons. For example, in the 2nd part, about 40 separate events were held, ranging from 80,000 to 1.3 million dollars in prizes.

In the BLAST statement, the company stated that the collaboration with the battle royale game is the company’s biggest project since the creation of BLAST Premier in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This partnership comes after BLAST hosted the FNCS All-Star Showdown and FNCS Grand Royale events in 2021.

“We are delighted to be able to establish this year-long partnership with Fortnite. BLAST has been able to build trust and a fantastic working relationship with the Fortnite Competitive team to create incredible experiences for the community. We loved every minute of FNCS All-Star Showdown and FNCS Grand Royale and have amazing plans for FNCS Chapter 3, which kicks off with Season 1 on February 17th where we have a record amount of content for fans to enjoy alongside our world-class production as the best in the world battle it out for over $3M in the prize pool.”

Leo Matlock, MD for Development at BLAST

The announcement comes shortly after BLAST announced that it will host the ePremier League in 2022, thus entering the FIFA esports scene for the first time. This year, the company also announced a number of partnerships with companies such as Betway, Shikenso, GRID Esports, Coinbase and CS.MONEY.

BLAST started this year with a strong push. The company entered FIFA esports in early February and is now gaining a foothold in Fortnite esports. 2022 looks set to be the year BLAST starts to fully diversify its revenue streams and stops focusing largely on CS:GO. This will be a step that can pay off if executed correctly.

Guild Esports has today announced the latest addition to its pro-gaming roster, with Lennard Sill aka Rezon signing as the newest member of its Fortnite team.

17-time tournament winner Rezon, from Germany, will be competing under the Guild banner in all upcoming European and international Fortnite tournaments alongside Guild’s other top-ranked players, Henrik Mclean (‘Hen’), Anas El-Abd (‘Anas’) and Jannis Matwin (‘JannisZ’). His signing maintains Guild’s standing as the number two Fortnite team in Europe – a force to be reckoned with ahead of the Grand Royale Finals.

Rezon has signed a one-year contract with Guild, which has an option to renew for another year. He will be competing under the Guild banner in all upcoming European and international Fortnite tournaments. His first appearance for Guild will be this weekend in the FNCS: Grand Royale where the prize money available for the European winners is $2.5 million, the highest prize money available for a Fortnite competition in 2021.

Firmly established as one of the most popular esports, Fortnite has over 350 million players worldwide. In December 2020, a record 15.3 million concurrent players took part in the Galactus in-game event and it was watched by 3.4 million fans on Twitch and YouTube gaming.

“We are delighted to welcome Rezon to our Fortnite roster. Rezon has a proven track record as one of the most talented Fortnite players in Europe and his addition to our tournament-winning team further cements Guild as a leader within the esport scene. We are excited to support his growth and success through our academy as one of the foremost players in Fortnite and welcome his significant following on social media to the Guild family.”

The Brazilian Free Fire League (LBFF) will be broadcast live on the TikTok. All matches, starting with the sixth round of the competition, which will take place on October 2 and 3, can be watched on the official TikTok account of Free Fire Brazil. This will also include the grand final, which will be played on October 30 without an audience due to health protocols.

Every Saturday and Sunday, until October 30, the tournaments will continue with six matches played per day.

The competition brings together 18 teams from the first stage of the LBFF. The tournament will have a prize pool of approximately $142.000, with 12 of the season’s best teams competing for the championship title in the grand finals.

Tournament matches will be broadcast live on the league’s YouTube and Facebook channels. In addition, Brazilian Free Fire League competitions can also be watched on BOOYAH!, the official broadcast site of Garena. The latest edition to the list is Tiktok.

With the matches of the tournament starting to be broadcast on TikTok, a larger audience will be able to be reached.

The company has hired former PUBG Corp Guilherme Barbosa as Head of Gaming Partnerships in Latin America. Thus, Nobru became the first global gaming ambassador. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has become the main partners of Professional League Brazil (MPL).

Some teams in the league already have a large TikTok audience. Fluxo has 1.5 million followers while the LOUD team has 7 million followers. TikTok will surely be an effective tool in spreading and popularizing the game in the future.
