]]>Seattle was the hosting city of Dota 2’s The International tournaments from 2012 to 2017, where Valve’s headquarters is also located. The event then moved to Vancouver in 2018, followed by Shanghai, Bucharest, and Singapore. In the most recent The International, TI11, held in Singapore, Tundra Esports defeated Team Secret 3-0 in the grand finals to claim the championship title and the grand prize money of $18,930,775.
The TI12 hosting venue Climate Pledge Arena is the same place as KeyArena where previous TIs were held in Seattle. The KeyArena name was retained until 2021 when it was closed for renovations in 2018 and reopened as the Climate Pledge Arena. Climate Pledge Arena is known as the world’s first zero-carbon arena. With a seating capacity of approximately 18,000, the arena can host a large event.
So far, Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators have secured their spot in TI12. Other qualifying teams will be determined by their success as the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2023 season progresses.

]]>The post Russian Dota 2 Team Expelled From Tournament For Anti-Ukrainian Action appeared first on Esportimes.
]]>The incident took place during the the semi-final match between Mind Games and Virtus.pro. Virtus.pro was playing as “Outsiders”, to get around an ESL ban on Russia-based esports teams. The Z mark was clearly visible on the map, but Moskalenko’s teammates quickly scribbled on it, anticipating that perhaps this would be a problem.
The letter is important because it was used by Russian forces invading Ukraine. The Z mark was adopted by civilians in Russia and other countries as a symbol expressing support for the invasion of Ukraine. Moskalenko denied any political intentions behind the Dota 2 smear and issued the following statement:
“There was a long pause in the game. The kids and I were talking and drawing on the minimap. Once we understood exactly what my drawing was, we tried to cover it up. I didn’t want to offend anyone, it all happened by chance.”
However, tournament organizer Beyond the Summit was not convinced by this statement and chose to disqualify the entire Virtus.pro team from the event.
Moskalenko’s problems worsened the next day. Despite his announcement, Virtus.pro terminated Moskalenko’s contract. He had joined the team in November 2021. The team made the following statement:
“Any action has consequences, whether intentional or not. Virtus.pro consistently opposes cases of incitement to hatred in esports. The club has terminated its contract with Ivan ‘Pure’ Moskalenko for his actions leading to his disqualification from the tournament and greatly damaging our relationship with the worldwide esports community.”

]]>At the event, players will compete in Dota 2, eFootball, and Rocket League.
The event will take place at the International Convention Center in Birmingham between 6-7 August and will see players from the Commonwealth countries compete for medals at their respective games. All three games will feature a women’s category and an open category.
“Alongside the GEF, we are delighted to unveil three major titles for the Commonwealth Esports Championships in Birmingham this summer. There is no doubt this innovative and exciting event will create new learnings and opportunities for us to further explore esports.”
Katie Sadleir, CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation

In addition to the event, the two sides will host the Commonwealth Esports Forum at the same venue on August 5. The CEC will act as a separate entity from the Commonwealth Games that will take place in the Summer.
“Esports has connected millions of young people across the Commonwealth, providing entertainment and a vital sense of community. The Commonwealth Esports Championships is a major vote of confidence in the West Midlands’ and UK’s thriving esports industry and an exciting chance to look at how this can be brought into the Commonwealth Sport Movement.”
Nigel Huddleston, Commonwealth Games Minister
The selection of Dota 2, eFootball and Rocket League games seem like good options to introduce esports to an audience unfamiliar with the industry. Depending on the success of the event, it will be interesting to see if there will be more similar esports events alongside traditional sporting events.

]]>TSM announced that it has donated $16,350 to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund. TSM’s Dota 2 team has reportedly expressed a desire to donate tournament winnings to help the people of Ukraine. TSM also donated an amount equivalent to the contributions of its players as an organization.
On the other hand, before the start of the Invitational Series Dubai, Team Spirit announced that they would donate all of their prize money to the International Red Cross Movement.
According to the website of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), support to the Ukraine Crisis fund helps meet humanitarian needs such as food, water, shelter, health and psychological support.
On March 2, TSM lost to Team Secret in the Play-In stage of the Invitational Series Dubai event, ending their tournament adventure in seventh/eighth place, earning approximately $8,176.
According to CARE’s website, support to the Ukraine Crisis Fund is helping to reach four million people with emergency aid and recovery, food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support and cash aid, prioritizing women and girls, families and the elderly.
But TSM isn’t the only esports organization looking to provide aid to Ukraine after competing at the Invitational Series Dubai.

]]>If you are one of the buyers of Dota 2 content, you may have wondered how to calculate the amount you have spent so far. Here’s what you need to do to find out how much money you’ve spent in Dota 2:
By logging into your Steam profile and following these simple steps, you can realize the amount you spend in Dota 2 and avoid the hassle of manually tracking every purchase you make in the game.
The amount you will see on the screen shows the money spent on the purchases you make in-game. This does not include money spent on Dota 2 item purchases on the Steam Community Market.
The Battle Pass offers some exclusive content that is usually only available for a short time. It also holds treasures for not only the item you want, but also a variety of special sets and items that you can unlock.
In addition, users who purchase Dota Plus can not only unlock special hero sets and items, but also access other features, including hero and item recommendations.

]]>A tweet by the organization explained that parting ways with their captain was a difficult decision, but that the team needed the “best possible chemistry” to push its performance forward. Interestingly, a few minutes before this tweet, Fata claimed that she was kicked out of the roster on her personal Twitter account. Tundra Esports recently competed in the DPC WEU 2021-22 Regional Finals, but the team performed poorly at the event.
Following the announcement, Fata said that this decision was made by Tundra Esports players. He also added that other players on the team were pressured to make room for new players, but he rejected these attempts.
He finally added that he will be on hiatus from the Dota 2 esports scene because he didn’t have the energy to “start from scratch again.”
The Tundra Esports roster was reduced to four players after their captain left:
It was surprising that Tundra Esports experienced this roster change, given the overall success in the previous six months where it managed to secure wins and place third in ESL One Fall 2021, OGA Dota PIT Season 5. At their peak, Tundra Esports was arguably one of the best teams in Western Europe.
Fata left Tundra Esports after being a key member of the team since its inception as mudgolems in September 2020. The team was signed by Tundra Esports in January 2021 and slowly climbed up to tier 1 of Western Europe. The team narrowly missed The International 10 as they lost to OG in the grand final of the WEU qualifiers.
Since September 2018, after playing together first for Ninjas in Pajamas, then for Alliance and finally for Tundra Esports, Fata is taking a hiatus from her esports career.
Tundra Esports said its new captain will be announced soon. Teams have until February 27 to determine their rosters

]]>The post Dota 2 Update 7.31 Release Date Announced appeared first on Esportimes.
]]>In a blog post on its website, Valve announced that the Dota 2 7.31 update will arrive on February 23, 2022.
The announcement came after Valve announced a few days ago that it would release the update after the Regional Finals, but did not reveal an exact release date. In addition to announcing the update’s release date, Valve has also released the Aghanim’s Labyrinth Battle Pass.
After the 7.30 patch on August 18, 2021, five sub-updates were released in the months that followed, but they didn’t change the game too much. As a result, the game’s meta has gotten pretty stale for a while. While heroes like the Templar Assassin and Lion continue to stand out, only some heroes have experienced significant growth or decline during this period.
As the February 23 release date indicates, Dota 2 patch 7.31 will be released after a total of 189 days, making it the most anticipated Dota 2 main patch since December 2016. Since December 2016, the last time players had to wait this long was patch 7.23, which was released in November 2019, 186 days after patch 7.22.
The Regional Finals, which will take place on the weekends of February 11-13 and February 18-20, will conclude before the release of Patch 7.31. Even before the release of the previous 7.30 patch in August, there have been calls for changes to the map and economy for a very long time. Therefore, it will be interesting to see if Valve actually makes significant updates to the game this time around.
