The International Esports Federation (IESF) has announced the return of six popular game titles to the 2023 World Esports Championship. The Championships Finals will officially kick off in August. This year, Iași, Romania will host the 15th edition of IESF’s flagship event with a record number of over 120 countries expected to compete.

The 2022 WE Championship in Bali, Indonesia, introduced mobile titles PUBG MOBILE and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and both will return following successful competitions which supported IESF’s efforts to make esports more accessible. CS:GO, Dota 2, Tekken 7, and eFootball™ series were featured in the 2021 and 2022 WE Championship as part of IESF’s rich and consistent history of hosting successful esports competitions.

IESF President Vlad Marinescu said: “After the success of the games last year and positive feedback and experience, we are thrilled to announce that the same six tremendously popular game titles will be featured in the upcoming 2023 World Esports Championship. IESF is extremely grateful for the continued cooperation from these prominent game publishers, and we are looking forward to uniting the World Esports Family once again in Iași!

Tiffany Lim, the Chair of IESF’s Athletes’ Committee said:It is vital for the voices of the esports athletes to be heard and represented, and the IESF Athletes Committee is here to help achieve that and bring about change. We are really excited about the new batch of athletes who’re going to be competing at the 2023 World Esports Championships, and confident that we will once again see fierce competition this year. GLHF all!.

The national qualifiers officially wrapped up last week, and the regional qualifiers are set to begin in May. IESF recently announced they would be extending their partnership with FITGMR to provide the necessary tools and support for the World Esports Family at this year’s WE Championship Finals.

PUBG announced that it will offer special advantages to the best esports teams with its partner program. The new partners of the Global Partner Team Program, which is open from December 1, were announced on the PUBG Esports official Twitter account. FaZe Clan and NAVI, which we all know closely, are the teams that are among the partners.

In the PUBG announcement, 8 teams were announced:

Partnership Teams

  • FaZe Clan
  • NAVI
  • Gen.G
  • Four Angry Man
  • Soniqs
  • Twisted Minds
  • Petrichor Road
  • 17 Gaming
PUBG Esports
What Will These Partnership Teams Get?
  • First of all, the items of these teams will be available in the game.
  • Profits from items will be shared with partners.
  • They will be able to receive direct invitations to the PUBG Global Series. (It is unknown if it applies to all Global Series tournaments)

PUBG Esports stated that they will further develop the program and offer more privileges that will develop both players and teams.

In addition, these partners do not exist permanently. Every year, partner teams are evaluated and reviewed. If they meet the criteria again, their partnership continues.

What Are The Evaluation Criteria’s?

It was announced by PUBG what criteria the teams that will be evaluated and examined every year should comply with. There are three main categories in the evaluation process. These categories are: Management, Fanbase, and History

1- Management

In this category, the general situation of the team, future plans and the legal structure of the organization are examined. In the shared evaluation criteria photo, the Management section constitutes 30% of the evaluation process.

2- Fanbase

In this category, PUBG evaluates the Fanbase of the teams. PUBG Esports measures the importance and value that the team’s audience attaches to the team. In the shared evaluation criteria photo, the Fanbase constitutes 40% of the evaluation process.

3- History

Finally, there is the History category. This category examines the team’s overall history in PUBG Esports, the team’s attendance records at PUBG Esports events, and the overall health of the players and coaching team. This accounts for 30% of the evaluation process.

Most esports followers find the criteria looked good and support it. While most of the 8 teams fully comply with all of these criteria, some win from the fans and history categories.

PUBG Mobile has announced that its amateur and semi-pro tournament PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) will have a total prize pool of $600,000 for the upcoming Spring semester.

Registration for the event, which officially opened today, will end on April 13. Following the competitive changes of PUBG Mobile, players active in 170 regions will be represented in 6 different regions.

The six regions include North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

Although the tournament will operate in six regions, some PMCOs will have sub-regions. This includes PMCO South America (PMCO Brazil and PMCO Latin America), PMCO Asia (PMCO South Asia and Asia Wildcard), and PMCO Europe (PMCO West Europe and PMCO Turkey).

Due to the competition’s focus on amateur and semi-pro teams, PMCO will no longer promote directly to PUBG Mobile Pro Leagues. Teams will not compete via PUBG Mobile National Championship or PMNC Regional Cups to reach PMPL in 2023.

Despite the official announcement and registrations being open, PUBG Mobile has yet to announce when the 2022 PMCO Spring season will officially kick off.

Turkish Esports organization SuperMassive Blaze announced disbanding PUBG team due to poor management of PUBG Esports.

We regret to inform you that we have decided to disband our PUBG team and will no longer compete in PUBG Esports as of January 2022. We would like you to know that this was a decision we didn’t take lightly. Since day one, we have been working relentlessly to contribute to the overall esports ecosystem in our region; from investing in emerging professional players to actively participating in various esport communities and working closely with publishers to take the tournament experience to the next level. However, after our recent meeting with PUBG Esports team, we came to the unfortunate conclusion that our serious efforts were not taken into consideration in their decision making. In particular, we struggled to understand their thinking around the tournament invitation and partnership selections, as well as their game rule changes despite recent player feedback. We hope to come back stronger if and when we are able to get more clarity and reach an agreement on these points. We would like to thank all our players and staff who have served and contributed to the SMB PUBG team so far. Regards.

Esports platform G-Loot has announced the PUBG: Battlegrounds tournament with a $50,000 prize pool called G-Loot Series 5. More than 500 teams from the EMEA region will compete in the tournament, which is planned to take place in February and March.

The tournament will be the first to be operated under the new G-Loot brand. Last year, the company’s tournament platform, GLL, merged into its main G-Loot product. According to the statement, G-Loot Series 5 will continue the tradition of past GLL seasons and GLL Grand Slams. The tournament will be organized by GLoot and KRAFTON.

Simon Sundén, G-Loot’s VP and Head of Esports, said:

Part of what makes G-Loot special is that we want to open esports up to a wider audience. Our hope is that this season will see even more new teams playing. We’ve seen a lot of players starting their journey in our seasons who have eventually gone on to win and become pros. There have been true underdog success stories over the years, and we love that.

The tournament will be the first G-Loot event set to take place in the EMEA region this year. The PUBG Corporation announced earlier in 2021 that the third-party tournaments will continue to contribute towards the PGC qualification journey by offering “Wildcards for PCS6 and PCS7“.

The organization also announced that Super Week and the finals of the tournament will be broadcast on the official PUBG Twitch channel.
