Online football game GOALS announced that it has received an investment of $ 15 million. With this investment, the company will be able to add 30 more game developers to the team by the end of 2022.

GOALS is a fast-paced multiplayer soccer game created for PC and consoles that offers players a unique and compelling way to own in-game digital assets while playing. GOALS works a little differently than current football games, creating a fun, competitive and rewarding experience. Being free to play, GOALS also allows cross-platform gameplay.

GOALS allows true digital ownership of in-game assets through the use of blockchain technology. These in-game assets can be earned in-game for free, used in-game or freely traded at any point.

“We’re thrilled to announce a seed round by an amazing group of VCs and fantastic angel investors. We have been in the very fortunate position where investors reached out to us before we were actually fundraising so we were able to pick the ones we felt had the best fit for GOALS. The current investors have the perfect combination of expertise in gaming, sports, web3 and company growth. With GOALS I am building my dream company. It combines my deep interest in sports, gaming, esports and new technology. After playing most football games on the market and observing the esports scene for a long time I could see that gamers deserved something new. GOALS is a gameplay-first football game. Free to play, cross-play, multiplayer-focused, and esports-ready where the players can finally own their in-game items instead of renting them.”

Andreas Thorstensson, co-founder and CEO of GOALS

Combining NFT’s & Sports Games

Football and gaming industries constitute two major markets. With 3.5 billion football fans and 2.9 billion players, the estimated market value for virtual goods in this space is thought to be close to $190 billion. Big players are investing heavily in to licensing to maintain their position in the market. That leaves a lot of room for companies like GOALS, which can offer an esports product. GOALS’ play-and-own business model is ideally positioned to serve the new market for NFTs, which is predicted to reach $80 billion by 2025. Within GOALS, players will be able to claim their players and teams to take part in professional online leagues.

Founded in late 2021, GOALS has built a team with an impressive array of skills and track record in entrepreneurship, engineering, game development, gaming, esports and web3. This investment will enable them to grow further in game development. As a game company, GOALS said it will work on offering a diverse and inclusive workplace to better attract developers from rival companies.

Saturday, December 4th, saw the culmination of weeks of competition for the inaugural Guild FIFA 22 Cup, presented by Subway, where hundreds of competitors from all across the UK and Ireland were whittled down to the final eight who competed in the sold-out live finals at the Odeon Luxe West End.

Tom Sorrell, 22 from Billericay, Essex, was ultimately crowned champion after defeating Lewis Blampey in the final, which was broadcast on Twitch.tv/GuildEsports and live to a sold-out crowd.

What an amazing experience to compete in front of so many people for the first time, and for Subway to provide such a delicious looking trophy. Hopefully, this is only the start of my FIFA Esports career!

Tom Sorrell

Alongside his share of the £1,800 prize pool, Sorrell took home the one of a kind ‘Golden Sub’ trophy, designed by Hatton Garden-based mystery master-craftsman, Johnny Hoxton. Created from reclaimed materials and inspired by iconic football trophies throughout history, the design of the trophy captures the likeness of a Subway Footlong in a bold, gold-plated design that signifies its holder as the ultimate amateur FIFA 22 player in the UK and Ireland.

It’s so great to be able to bring our first physical activation with Subway to life. After months of meticulous planning, we’ve put on the largest physical FIFA event of 2021, and there’s so much more to come! We’re also so excited that this tournament has provided opportunities to athletes for the future of FIFA Esports which is an ethos felt throughout Guild and with our Academy.

Michelle Tierney, Chief Commercial Officer at Guild

The event featured the who’s who of the Esports and Gaming world, featuring some of the world’s top creators hosting the championship, including Pieface, Elz the Witch, Stevie White, TN25 and Iain Chambers. The grand final was opened with a message from Guild co-owner David Beckham and the show also featured a unique show match between superstar FIFA creator Pieface, and renowned entertainer & social media personality Harry Pinero, with Pieface coming out on top.

We’re so excited to be part of our first ever FIFA 22 tournament with Guild and watch the players battle it out for the one-off ‘Golden Sub’ trophy and top £1,800 cash prize. The competition was fierce, our congratulations to the winner, Tom, and everyone that competed.

Mays Elansari, Head of Marketing UK & Ireland at Subway

The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2021-22 season is kicking off for European teams today! The Fall Split is the first Split of the RLCS 2021-22 and features a 16-team Swiss Stage format where the top Rocket League esports teams fight to qualify for the eight-team, single-elimination bracket that’ll decide who wins the first Regional in each region (all RLCS regions will be playing the same format).

With three new regions added for RLCS 2021-22, the RLCS is bigger and better than ever. Last weekend was the beginning of the Fall Split for North America, Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Oceania, and Asia-Pacific South (APAC S) competition, while this weekend marks the start for Europe, South America (SAM), and Asia-Pacific North (APAC N) competition. You check out the full Fall Split event and broadcast schedule in this blog.

Rocket League Championship Series: Changes In Streaming Structure

There are also two big changes to the NA and EU broadcasts. The first change is that on each Regional Event’s Friday broadcast, the main Rocket League Twitch and YouTube Channels will now feature a “hub-style” stream that switches between all the big moments from team streams as they battle their way through the Swiss Stage of the format. The Saturday and Sunday broadcasts will then take viewers through the eight-team, single-elimination bracket over the remaining two days of a given Regional. The second change is that the EU and NA broadcasts will also be getting an upgrade with the Unreal Engine-powered “Hype Chamber,” bringing a new look to the broadcast.

The RLCS 2021-22 Fall Split EU broadcast begins today at 8 a.m. PT (3 p.m. UTC) and can be viewed on Twitch and YouTube.

For more in-depth information about the Fall Split schedule, broadcasts, new Fan Rewards, Fall Split Major plans, and more, check out the latest blog post HERE. For a general overview of RLCS 2021-22, check out the announcement blog post HERE and the announcement stream HERE

The NBA 2K League is expanding into Mexico with a deal with Spanish esports organization DUX Gaming.

As part of the deal, DUX Gaming said it will launch a Mexico-based NBA 2K League expansion team. They also stated that they will be the first NBA 2K League team in Latin America.

Dux Gaming

Dux Gaming is a sports organization with teams in various video game titles and Spanish football leagues. DUX Gaming will join the NBA 2K League next season in the spring of 2022.

The NBA 2K League is expanding!

League’s globality expanded following the addition of Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai in 2020. DUX Gaming’s roster will be the 24th NBA 2K League team and the second expansion team from outside the US and Canada. Rafael Garcera Rodrigo will become the general manager of DUX Gaming.

Brendan Donohue, President of the NBA 2K League, shared the following words:

This is a historic day as we welcome another premier international organization to the NBA 2K League family.

DUX Gaming has a demonstrated track record of growing its fan base in new and creative ways which makes it an ideal partner to help the NBA 2K League successfully expand to Latin America, where basketball and 2K are already incredibly popular.

We’re thrilled that DUX Gaming will represent Mexico in the NBA 2K League for years to come

DUX Gaming CEO Mario Fernández made a statement on the subject.

As an organisation established in Europe, it is a true honour to now become the first NBA 2K League team in Latin America.

We can’t wait to work with Brendan and the entire NBA 2K League team to build our fan base in Mexico and expand their audience to Latin America with the hope that everyone, especially Spanish speakers, will join the infinite club.

DUX Gaming will be auditioning for their third NBA 2K League Expansion on November 17.
